A garden story

Once upon a time we bought a house.

We loved it.  It had landscaping that I couldn’t do anything with (lots of shrubs, lots of rock, lots of work to dig it up to put in new plants).

Check out Adam’s car! After driving that for a year, he EARNED his Jeep. Poor guy – no fair that his wife totals his truck and he gets stuck with the crap car.

So the first summer I made a bunch of changes to the front garden.

It was exhausting and life got busy so nothing more was done for a couple years…  well, except for taking down 3 or 4 trees.  Gotta love chainsaws!  Then the kids started talking about fairy and troll gardens.

So for the second year in a row, they started them.

Their mom got the bug and started thinking about it and thinking about it and thinking about it.  She then got an idea and without stopping to think about how much work it would be, started in on it.

It took many many hours to get the first half done but it looks great.  There’s not *that* much more to do.  After the wall is up, a trip to the dump will be made to get compost and then we’ll have a HUGE fairy/troll garden.  Can’t wait!!

The best part is that so far I haven’t spent a cent.  There were a bunch of those retaining wall blocks under our deck when we moved in and we’ve never had a use for them.  I love the use we finally came up with and it is going to be great!  Can’t wait to get our dirt, fill it up, and let the kids get decorating!
