Megan and I have been talking a lot about the sounds that letters make. She picks up on some of them super fast and others her brain hasn't clicked with yet and she can't get it. Imagine my frustration with the conversation we had this morning...
Megan: Momma, what sound does a B make?
Momma: Buh - like in Bumpus or boy or ball
Megan: No but sometimes a B says zzzz
Momma: No Honey, B never says zzz. It always says 'buh'
Megan: But Momma, you don't understand! Sometimes a B says zzz like in Zachary.
Momma: Do you mean like the word buzz?
Megan: Yeah. Kind of. You just don't understand, Momma.
Momma: The word buzz has a zzz sound at the end of it but the beginning sound still says 'buh'
Megan: But Momma...
Momma (finally the coffee kicks in and the brain turns on): Oh!!!!! Do you mean like B the animal? A bee?
Megan: YES!
Momma: Oh! Well you're right! A bee does say zzzz.
Sometimes Mommy is kind of stupid. :)
