I took a break from knitting today... to sew! I needed a place to keep all my knitting needles that I now have (thanks to ebay and Adam's cousin Shabbie who gave me some for Christmas) so I spent some time this morning and afternoon working on a knitting roll.
(excuse the poor lighting in these pictures - Adam had the good camera at the train yard with Nick so I used the little one that isn't near as good)
Here's my needles and hooks that need a home. As you can imagine, they make a huge mess all over the house!
Here's my plans!
my 3 pieces of fabric for the pockets - all are lined with interfacing.
3 pockets
pockets are pinned together ready to sew.
Here's my big pockets all sewn together. The bottom fabric I got from my in-laws after they went to Hawaii and the backing in a picture below I believe came from Africa. This is a very cool knitting roll!
Lines are marked for the pockets. I have wide ones at the right that are going to be shorter pockets for my ruler and smaller things
Now I have the pockets sewn! What a lot of sewing...
Here it is done with my needles and crochet hooks in it.
Here it is done! I didn't plan for the ties well enough and I may have to fix them at some point but for now there's the finished product. All of the fabric, etc. I used for this came from my stash - I didn't spend a cent on any of it! (well, other than the needs, hooks, etc. etc. etc)
I would do a few things differently if I were to make another one, but I'm still happy with how it turned out.
