We cut Nick's meds in half for his morning dose today. He'll be getting 2/3 for the day of what he has been getting. I'm very eager to see how this goes. Every time we've talked about weaning in the past we've had to actually increase his dose. We haven't had an increase in months and months and I'm really hopeful that the muscle in his belly causing all this trouble is finally getting stronger. Time will tell.

Christmas pictures
While we're in Minnesota celebrating Christmas with my family finally, here's pictures of our Christmas at home in Iowa.
Santa hit a grand slam this year. The kids were absolutely in love with their gifts from the big red guy and I think would have been okay had they been the only gifts they received. It was all icing on the cake to receive other gifts like clothes, bristle blocks, books, Barbies and yet more Littlest Pet Shop pets.

Megan playing with her pet shop house from Santa.

Megan showing off one of her many many pairs of earrings she got from us and her new hair clips.
As Adam said, Megan was smiling so big when she opened this box of Pet Shops from Grandma & Grandpa that her face nearly split in half. WOW she loved it.

It sure was a pretty Christmas...
even if it didn't go as planned...
Due to the stomach flu here, the stomach flu in Minnesota and the weather in Minnesota, we chose to stay home this Christmas rather than heading up to be with my family as was planned. I have always wanted to spend Christmas in our own house and we got our wish. It was a very fun day (pictures later) and the weather outside was lovely as well... Can't beat a nice snowfall on Christmas, can you?

Clean more, Mommy...
We just lost power for a few seconds. That few seconds was enough to turn our ceiling fan off in the living room. Nick ran to tell me it was broken. In my digging around to find the remote to turn the fan back on, I bumped it and it turned on full-speed. Dust went flying off the fan (yes, I dusted this dumb thing 2 weeks ago!) and Nick very excitedly told me "It 'nowing, Momma!"

Nick...
I was sitting and talking to Nick yesterday afternoon about our plans for the week and that Santa was coming and we were going to go to Grandma's house and sleep at Karen's house and that was all well and good. About 10 minutes later he was playing with his bear Sawyer.
Nick: Sawyer with?
Mommy: Where do you want to bring Sawyer with? We're not going anywhere.
Nick: Christmas tree.
Mommy: What? What Christmas tree?
Nick: Gerbil's house.
Mommy: Oh! You want to bring Sawyer to the gerbil's house for Christmas?
Nick: Yeah!
Mommy: Absolutely you can bring Sawyer to the gerbil's house for Christmas.
Nick: Yay yay yay. Sawyer to gerbil's house. Christmas tree.

Who says TV kills your imagination? Not for our kid! Nick came out here with his toy remote and said "I watch tv" and then ran back to his room. He's watching the imaginary tv in his bedroom!

Megan oh Megan
I forgot to mention (but really must) that we got our first eye roll from Megan last weekend. Such a proud moment. lol She does it a lot now.
********************************
We're dishwasher shopping. We've been doing it for a couple weeks now. We wanted to check a couple more stores and prices before we really made up our mind and were explaining this all to Megan as we were leaving church this morning and heading to Home Depot.
Megan: We already looked at dishwashers!
Daddy: Well, we need to go to a few more stores to make sure we pick out the best dishwasher.
Megan: I know what the best one would be. It would be rainbow and sparkly. Yes. I know that.

I knitted...
I have fallen in love with knitting. IT's so much fun! Unfortunately I don't quite have sizing down yet. I made scarves for the kids which was easy peasy. I wanted to try something that wasn't a rectangle. I used a very easy Lion Brand pattern for a hat and it turned out pretty well, although a bit big... I think I'll make it work, though. It should be quite warm, anyway...

Meganism - the fashion guru
While driving around town Megan and I have been singing Christmas carols so that she can learn them before her Christmas program for preschool next week. Last night on the way to my meeting, we sang Rudolph. At the end Megan got very troubled...
Megan: Mommy, they wouldn't let Rudolph play in their reindeer games.
Mommy: Why don't you think they wouldn't? {teachable moment - I had to take advantage of it}
Megan: I don't know.
Mommy: It was because he looked different.
Megan: Yeah, and that's not very nice!
Mommy: Nope, it shouldn't matter what you look like. Think of how boring it would be if everyone looked the same! That's why God made some people with blond hair, some people with black hair, some with brown and some with red. He made some people short, some people tall
Megan: and some people with straight hair like mine.
Mommy: Yup
Megan: Yeah. I have straight blond hair. And Mommy, you have.... you have brown tangly hair.
Hrm. Maybe I need to comb my hair more often.

Megan's learning
Yesterday we had playgroup at our house. Megan was eating and chatting with her BFF N. They were talking about grapes. The adults weren't paying attention to them until we hear Megan say, "I'll ask my mommy". That caught my ear and I was interested to hear what she was going to ask me. "Mommy, how do they put grape juice in the grapes??"
Fascinating the things they come up with!
************************************
While watching Bob the Builder this evening, she watched a bird repeating what people on the show were saying. "Mommy, that bird is talking words like we do. How does it do that? What is that bird called?"
I love watching her learn!

Nick is...
Superman!
Nick has taken to running down the hall and yelling "Superman!" as he goes. Where did he get this from? We have NO idea...
*****************************
Nick: Momma, I done walking
Nick proceeds to take off at a full run around the house for a good 5 minutes. What a silly boy.
Nick sure likes to announce his intentions. There's very little that is secretive about him. He says "I bite it" before he goes off and bites your nose. He says "I sad" and then will start crying but then says "I done crying" and as soon as you acknowledge him (but not a second before) will stop crying and go about his business.
*****************************
How many other little boys do you know that put necklaces on the piano and then call it pretty? Probably lots of little boys who have big sisters that are girly-girl but I love it. He's sweet and sensitive and yet so full of all things boy. What a fun kid he is.
