leaving on a jet plane in a pickup truck

This afternoon, after playing bells at church, I'm going to leave my family for a week. My wonderful Mother-in-Law has agreed to come and watch the kids for the week so that I can go up to spend time with my parents. It is a win-win situation for everyone and I'm very glad that we were able to make it work.

Initially I was going to go up and spend the week taking Dad up to radiation and to take care of he and mom for the week to give my oldest sister a (very, very, very much needed) break but Dad had decided that he wanted to wait two weeks before he started the radiation so instead he spent last week with my two oldest sisters (and Mom, of course) in Chicago doing all sorts of touristy stuff and this week I'll do all sorts of fun stuff with them in the state. My little sister will join us and continue on with fun activities on Wednesday. Adam will come up on Thursday and then he and I will come home on Friday, back to our kids who will have been spoiled rotten by Grandma B. It's a great deal for everyone.

Since Grandma isn't leaving until mid-afternoon on Saturday, we'll celebrate our baby boy's 2nd birthday that Saturday before she leaves.

It will be a very busy and probably very emotional week that I hope to have many many memories from. I'm looking forward to it in a very bittersweet way. I will try to blog every evening so that I can keep notes on what was done every day and to share with all of you. Have a great week!
