I adore my daughter. She is wonderful, she's smart, she's ADORABLE, and she has the best best imagination in the whole world. Need proof? I've got it for you!!
So we're wandering around Menards late this afternoon because I needed some bolts for wall anchors that I already had so that I could hang a new picture in our bedroom. I found the right bolts, wandered around the store for a while, played with the door displays for a while (Megan calls them the houses - we take turns knocking and letting each other into our 'houses'). We finally headed for the registers.
I'm at the front of the cart with Nick, he's handing the bolts to the cashier and Megan is standing at the back of the cart. The place is pretty empty, so there's lots of cashiers standing around doing nothing... they needed some entertainment, right? Well, they got it.
All of a sudden Megan yells "Oh no!!!" I immediately look to make sure she's got all of her limbs. Yep, limbs all accounted for. Not sure what's up, so I ask her.
Megan: My butterfly!
Mommy: What?
Megan: See the butterfly?
Mommy: (looking around) Where?
Megan: (gesturing in front of her) Here!
Mommy: (looking at the display of cat litter, not seeing a butterfly) I don't see it, Meg
Megan: (running to an empty space between the registers and the exit, crouching down) Here!
Mommy: (looking at the floor where Megan is gesturing) Oh! There!
Megan picks up her 'butterfly' and walks back to the cart and shows it to me.
Mommy: It's very pretty! I love that purple butterfly! (good guess, Mommy!)
Megan: Yeah! It changes colors! (butterfly procedes to get away, several times) I need to put his leash on.
Cashiers: giggling
Mommy: You need to put your coat on now, Meg.
Megan: Can you hold my leash for me?
Mommy holds the leash tight so the trouble butterfly (which Megan said was named Munka because that's what was on his collar) won't get away. I hand the leash back to Megan so that I can zip her coat and then she puts on one mitten, switches the leash to the other hand, puts on the other mitten, and then has to switch sides of the cart she's holding onto because she has the leash in the other hand now.
Isn't she great??
